Our nursery for infants and toddlers through 35 months is staffed by CPR trained adults and youth of 16 years or older. We provide a warm, loving and happy place where children can safely and securely explore their world. Pagers are available & used to notify parents/guardians of any problems that may arise.
We believe that children are an integral part of our worship service and they are encouraged to attend on a regular basis. Every Sunday the children are invited forward during worship for Children's Time with our pastors and/or our Ministry Coordinator for a special age-appropriate message. After Children's Time they may stay for the adult message or may attend one of the following:
Parents of participating children rotate turns assisting as the Chapel Leader, WIFI supervisor or Activity Time supervisors.
Before the morning service, the children gather together for adult-led music time and their respective Sunday School Classes.
Godly Play: (Focus:Love God) curriculum is used with children 3 years of age (by December 2nd of the current school year) through kindergarten. The curriculum includes a series of sacred stories presented in a Montessori-like manner. The process allows the children to know and develop a relationship with God.
Character Counts: (Focus: Love God, Love one another) is the curriculum used by the 1st and 2nd grade class, helping them establish strong Christian values as their personal world expands, and they encounter people with different perspectives and values. This age group has a monthly service component, reaching out in love to homebound members and occasionally a church mission project.
Power Xpress: (Focus: Love God, Love one another, and Serve the world) for 3rd-5th graders, provides studies of God's people and lessons in developing personal gifts. Power Xpress encourages the children to reach out to the community and world, which they do on a regular basis by helping with the church food closet and outreach through the River Bottoms Ministry.
